Naples is vibrant with energy. People talk fast. Drive fast. With the spirit of love, you have to keep your money belt on and your hand bag tight against you. It just is what it is.
This castle welcomes us at the Port. It is Castle Nuovo. Built in the year 1279 it is gigantic. Naples most striking building.
Naples and its area has a population of approximately 3.5 million people. Famous for its history, architecture and pizza. Pizza originated here.
Settling began in the 9th Century BC, making it one of the oldest cities in the world.
Everyone drives a Vespa. One car and one Vespa is the norm.
We found people surrounding this Christmas tree in the middle of a mall. Not sure if the tree notes are to Santa directly? Or asking to donate gifts to children who are writing the notes.

The Galleria Umberto is a fantastic mall on a main street in Naples. From the port, we walked straight up to the main street. It is up hill from the port.
Owls continue to follow us throughout our trip. Debbie bought one of these little cuties.
Now we headed off down some nitty gritty streets where the real Naples exists.

The infamous Mount Vesuvius that erupted in 79 AD. Resulting in the preservation of the city of Pompeii as it was in ancient times. Vesuvius is 4000 feet high and located about 9 miles from Naples. The last eruption was in 1944.
From this port in Naples, you can visit Pompeii, Capri, Sorrento, Positano, and Rome if you like. Either boat, train or bus. Even taxis will take you.....not to Capri, but the rest.
