Hiking the Salisbury Crag, Edinburgh

With the view of Arthur's Seat behind us, we challenge ourselves to climb the Salisbury Crags.  Sheer cliffs that face Edinburgh directly.  It is, I thought, the easier and more relaxed climb?
Well....it was less difficult that Arthur's Seat, but definitely not easy.  Mud, loose rocks, slippery grass and paths, and other tourists who scared the poop out of me when they were not more cautious on the cliffs.

Following the paths, there are many, we begin to make our way up to the top.

A view from the top, of the Scottish Parliament Buildings.  Very modern, creative with a funky design.

The edge.....don't look down.

Watch your step?

What a feeling up here.  The air is fresh.  Perfect temperature for hiking.  No rain.  Loving it.

The edge.....

No rails.....just common sense which my gal has.
Right?

Blue sky day......nearing the top.

Runners paradise.  Many paths, many challenges and very scenic.

The only time during the day that Deb was heading to 'the office.'  Way, way to close to the edge for me.  But she wanted the shot.

The edge.....with a view of the Edinburgh Castle.

 Queen Debbie of the hill.

Oh yeah.....the beautiful Salisbury Crags.  Gorgeous.

We had a wee picnic right where Deb found a seat on the rocks.  If only we could get someone to bring us two cappuccinos.....now that would be awesome.

These girls, tourists, are so close to the edge (legs dangling close) I could not look.

I told Deb that I could totally be inspired to run again if this was my playground!

The path that dissects Arthur's Seat is the route Deb and I took to get to the top of that hill.  We crossed the hill, then went up the left side to the summit.  Wow I can't believe we did that.
We rocked it!  (get it?)

Amazing views.  Glorious day.
Now it is time to follow a path to get home.
Easy....follow the popcorn trail?

See the speck at the top.....that was us....well where we were today.
Sweet.
