We have been blessed with beautiful weather since we arrived in Wales. A few wee rain sprinkles but a whole week of incredible weather. Great day to head up to walk the three quarters of a mile long medieval walls.
Welcomed by these two menacing, but I am sure friendly Jackdaw birds. Very sociable birds and not easily scared off by wall walkers.
Constructed by King Edward I in the years 1283-1289. He is the same King who killed Sir William Wallace in London. This is one of his castles built in Wales that are referred to as the 'Iron Rings' to contain the Welsh.
A long way down.
There are 22 towers still mostly standing dotted along the wall which surrounds the town of Conwy.
At the top of one of the towers trying to get my 'animal lover' photo taken with the gull. But as I took steps towards him, he started to look at me and decide whether or not to fly away. So he did.
Ivy is massive around and inside the walls. A very interesting contrast between the dark stone walls and the brilliant green ivy.
Three pudgy doves keeping an eye on us.
Super star Deb climbing again....and again...
These signs are posted on some of the door openings....
Deb just makes it in. No ducking needed.
My buddy still guarding the castle and walls.
Rush hour on the Conwy walls. Not much room to pass and quiet high to move too far over.
Quiet steep in some areas. The views are vast and beautiful.
Not really keen on climbing on this medieval steps leading to the top of the very highest tower! They are stones jutting out of the original wall.....I did it...but I was nervous.
Deb is the Queen of the castle. Funny story about this photo. I set up the timer on my camera but didn't make it to Deb in time so the photo has me running on the wall. So I decided I would share this awesome picture of Deb....
Really....what are you upset about?
There are some steep climbs up and now we are on the steep climbs down.
This part of the wall goes over the rail line. No walking on this section of the wall for obvious reasons.
The cracked tower wall from the inside.
The views from the walls are breathtaking across the sea and mountains and green pastures that do not end.
This is the end of the wall at the waters edge. No rail to stop you if you ran down the stones.....so don't do it. Good safety tip.
With Debbie.... my favourite travel partner, best friend and true love. Thanks for making all this possible for us.
You inspire me.
