A wee funny thing happened when we needed to get money from the ATM in Conwy. There isn't an ATM in Conwy? Odd, but no problem we will head to the bank. Can't get money from the bank, from our bank account in Canada?
Ok.....now we have a bit of a problem. The nearest bank machine is in Llandudno.
We are up for that....lets take the scenic route along the harbour and coastal paths. The town is visible from where we are...how far can it be?
The walk was so lovely. The air was very warm, the sun was shining.....it was very peaceful....awww.
A view of Conwy Castle from across the harbour with my new buddy the swan enjoying the day as well.
I think, because there is an abundance of yummy things to eat (because the tide goes out, a long ways, twice in a day) and there are many nooks and crannies to nest in the castle, the numbers of birds here are incredible. Every colour of pigeon. Many different kinds of gulls. As well as numerous species of black birds. And of course all the pretty birds and ducks.
I am in heaven.
A lovely white dove, I believe a Rock Dove, on the harbour front. It stood out greatly amongst all the dark doves fluttering about.
The harbour in Conwy at the beginning of the tide going out. A fishing village with awesome Conwy mussels and fresh catch of the day for fish and chips.
A Yellow legged Herring Gull....what a noise they make when calling out. But they look almost regal. Lovely straight up posture.....I like them.
'Head Shot' on the bridge with the Conwy Castle behind us. We were definitely over dressed. Before we crossed the bridge, our hats, sweaters, scarves and gloves were off.
This funny looking, big bird on the mussel barge is a Cormorant. Something I have never seen before.
Another first for us is this wading bird called a Great Crested Grebe. His head tuff is usually spikier, which when courting another Grebe, they shake at each other?
A huge anchor at the harbour. As you can see....it is almost impossible to take a picture anywhere in town without seeing the castle in all its massiveness.
At first glance I thought this was a Mallard, until I could see the gorgeous colours on it. In fact it is called a Shelduck. The bird is an 'in betweener.' It is the size of a small goose, but larger than a duck. Interesting enough, they nest in rabbit burrow kind of holes. They are easy to distinguish as they are the only wild ducks with red beaks.
The coastal walk is the only way to go. A glorious day for walking.
This bird loves having his photo taken. It perched and stayed for many seconds for me to snap away. It is the Reed Bunting bird.
Beautiful Conwy harbour. Unknown to us, the village across the water wasn't Llandudno where the ATM's are located. We had walked about 4 kilometres and finally decided to catch a bus to the city centre.
A Collared Dove, very pretty. It has a triple coo sound. 'Cu-cooo-cuk'
Kayaker on the ocean water. Interesting sail attached?
Lobster traps on the docks in Conwy harbour.
Be prepared.....numerous photos of the Conwy Castle......we just can't help ourselves.
Oh....we found the ATM and we are happy girls again.
