A Brave New World for D&A Part 2

"I am not a glutton - I am an explorer of food."- Erma Bombeck

After such a walk we were starving.....for hungarian goulash?  Maybe.

Our decision to go back to the same restaurant, "a Generalis hoz" or The General, was made because we had a delicious meal there on our first visit.  I wanted to have a great lunch again.
This building was owned by one of the Sopron Mayors in the 17th century.  When he died he left the building to the city of Sopron.  They used it for housing of military commanders, during that time, hence the name "The General."
The view from here is of the Main square in the Old city....but much too chilly and wet to sit outside so in we go.  Our same waitress who we liked very much is on and it was a wonderful afternoon of yummy hungarian food.

Deb had the 'hungarian meat soup in a jug' which is literally how it was written in the menu and what it looked like when it was served.  The 'top' on it was a tasty cross between pastry and soft doughy bread.

I loved the 'deer stew with homemade gnocchi.'

Neither Deb nor I have ever had chestnuts.....but here is chestnuts with cream.  Not at all what we expected, but very pleasantly surprised.  Spiced like nutmeg and allspice, not sure if that was the chestnut flavour or sprinkled on it?
Awesome.

'Pancakes with apricots' which we know as crepes.  Apricots are very popular here.
I want to make these at home.

Having filled our bellies, we decided to follow yet another path home that we haven't taken.  Walking behind the Town Hall, we were amazed to see more, much more, of the Roman walls.
Excavations are continuing to recover more.  The town is always working on the maintenance of what is uncovered.

Hey...there is Deb hanging out by the wall.
She looks happy even if she has walked 5 miles today?

The end of the wall that we could see....right beside the main street in town.  Maintenance continues.
This looks like a Roman Amphitheatre.
Again I say....Romans in Hungary?....I never thought.

And THAT was our day.
Pretty awesome even though we never found the tower?
