"Surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts; the sight of the deep-blue sky and the clustering stars above seems to impart a quiet to the mind."- Jonathan Edwards
The directions were difficult to follow to find our Gothic Church. The street names are not on sign posts but on the buildings at the corners of intersections. Thus, if you are going the wrong way or there is no name on the building, you might walk a long way around?
The scenery is still enjoyable. Both Deb and I love taking pictures and thoroughly relish in discovering 'gems' on the back streets.
If you lived here in Sopron, I bet you would not notice this memorial that is situated right in the middle of a round-a-bout. A very busy one at that.
There is a date of 1915 on it, but unfortunately no other information.
This building looks very worn, but I bet was a distinguished sight in it's day.
Making friends along our way. Who needs to know the language?
This neighbourhood was dotted with much older and smaller homes than our hotel neighbourhood.
Making our way....or trying to find our way....we come to the main street that we are familiar with outside the walls of the Old town. Walking on the opposite side of the street, than we have been, we find this most serious fellow right in the middle of the sidewalk?
Can you guess what gyogyszertar means in hungarian?
Pharmacy.
This one, on the main street, is very colourful. We haven't needed to visit them, but if they are like other european pharmacies, you would stop here for help from the pharmacist before or instead of going to the doctor or hospital. For ailments not major situations.
A 3-D plaque on the side of a regular building on our way to the Gothic Church.
Would you love me if I was only a head?
In hindsight at this plaque we should have made a right up the street, but we were too busy taking pictures, talking and enjoying the views around us, we missed it.....
Thus the journey continues......
