“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

My first day of retirement.....Really.....It doesn't seem real.
There are always doubts.  Am I doing the right thing?  Can we afford it?  (Deb says peanut butter and jam sandwiches for the winter).
My last day of work was Thursday October 31st.  But on Wednesday; my second last day of work I was reminded that life does not wait for anyone. I witness a man of only 60 years of age die in front of my eyes.  After 10 years of working as a front line medical staff in a small town hospital I cried.  I cried because it was so sad.  I cried for him, his family and his friends who will have him no longer.  My understanding is that he was preparing for retirement.
It was such a confirmation for me. Life is worth taking risks.  I don't know what is coming 'down the pipe' for me....my expiry date so to speak.  Deb and I are even more determined to enjoy, discovery, be scared, relax, and live abroad for the winter and have no regrets.
