This is a picture of an Hungarian Komondor. It is a huge, white, 'mop-like' looking dog...that scares us every day we walk by it's home.
It is bred to protect property and livestock. Surprisingly, this dog is very quick and agile for such a large animal. As a puppy, this dog has soft hair. As it grows the 'cords' on this breed mature. Two years for a coat to develop into the look in the picture below. No shedding after puppy hair is gone. When the cords are fully developed they can be as long as 20-27 cm long. It takes approximately 2 1/2 days for the coat to dry after a bath?
The breed has been declared a treasure in Hungary, and is not to be altered with mixed breeding.
To be honest, it is a very odd looking dog? It's fur looks like cord rather than hair. How do you groom such a dog?
Puppy Love?
